CeramTec Stuttgart

Ceramtec was a pleasant surprise in regard to the efforts it maintains to recruit, train and retain its staff, I was hosted by Michael Nanz, who from school joined CeramTec’s apprenticeship programme.

CeramTec has high end machinery and state of the art training facility, the quality of their apprentices is extremely high. I was delighted to hear that it is common practice in Germany to allocate area of the budget to create and maintain relationships with local schools, which assures the company has a presence within the area and also generates interest for future generations of would be engineers. There are many aspects of CeramTec’s philosophy and business model that, if implemented in the UK, would see an end to the skills shortage within a generation.
